2nd Annual Gallaudet University Baseball Golf Classic a huge success

OLNEY, Md. – The final numbers are in from the 2011 GU Baseball Golf Classic held on Oct. 17 at the Norbeck Country Club and the event was once again a huge success. Gallaudet baseball coach Curtis Pride announced $22,500 was raised, nearly double last year's total of $12,000, as a full field of golfers took to the course.

"I was extremely pleased with the support and participation of everyone at the tournament. Everyone had a great time," said Pride.

The GU Baseball Golf Classic is open to anyone willing to play, have a fun time and help the Bison baseball program. The event included a continental breakfast and lunch for the participants. There was also an extensive silent auction including gift cards, packages, and signed memorabilia.

Pride and tournament director Ken Barksdale were able to secure several sponsors to help support the event and the GU baseball program. INCAPITAL, Edens & Avant, Littler Mendelson, Deja View Landscaping, Kellogg Conference Hotel, The Moffett Group, Sorenson, and Under Armour were all important sponsors that helped make this event possible.

The winning team was the foursome of Jae Choi, Nae Choi, Hong Kim, and Steve Boyle. Ricky Levine won the longest drive competition while Jim Moyer won the closest to the pin contest.

Coach Pride's goal is to establish Gallaudet as one of the premier Division III baseball programs in the country. The funds raised will help to cover team expenses such as travel and equipment.
