Coach Barber helps with YES Clinic at NCAA Final Four
INDIANAPOLIS – Gallaudet University men’s basketball coach Jeb Barber was one of many collegiate basketball coaches volunteering at the NCAA YES Clinic held at the site of this year’s men’s basketball Final Four in Indianapolis. Hours before Butler pulled off the historic win against Michigan State in the national semifinals, Coach Barber and his peers were helping to educate and instruct boys and girls (ages 10 to 16) about the game of basketball along with conditioning tips and life skills. Barber is in Indianapolis to attend the annual National Association of Basketball Coaches convention held in conjunction with the men’s Final Four.
The YES Clinics are a staple at the various NCAA championships held throughout the school year at the site of the national championship games around the country. YES stands for Youth Education through Sports. It is a premiere outreach program for youth across the country. The clinics also include sessions for parents and guardians to discuss issues about sportsmanship, wellness, injury prevention, NCAA academics and athletics requirements and “live as a NCAA student-athlete.”
