Randolph bombards Gallaudet from 3-point range on the road
LYNCHBURG, Va. – Randolph College made 10 3-pointers in the first half Monday night as the WildCats jumped all over Gallaudet University in a non-conference men's basketball game on the road. Randolph led 42-18 at halftime and cruised to a 71-42 win against the Bison.
Randolph guards Mike Ehilegbu (19 points) and Colton Hunt (19 points) made nine of the 10 first-half 3-pointers as the WildCats (5-2) made 47.6 percent of their shots from long range. Gallaudet (3-5) cut Randolph's early lead to four, 18-14, with 10 minutes left before intermission when senior guard Tony Tatum (Gardendale, Ala.) made a 3-pointer of his own. Three minutes later, senior forward Layton Seeber (Champaign, Ill.) made a 3-pointer for the Buff and Blue as they trailed by five, 23-18, with 7:16 left in the first half. The Bison didn't score another point before halftime. Randolph scored the next 19 points, largely off 3-pointers, to take the 24-point lead into the break.
Freshman guard Jaris Alleyne (Waldorf, Md.) led the Bison with 11 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Seeber and Tatum each finished with eight points and three assists. Seeber had eight rebounds while Tatum brought down five.
Randolph shot 42.2 percent from the field compared to Gallaudet's 28.1 percent performance. The WildCats made 11 of 33 shots from 3-point range while the Bison made 6 of 23 attempts. Randolph held a 44-38 rebound edge and outscored the Bison 30-10 in the paint.
GU will next host Penn St.-Berks on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game.
