Brian Bennett breaks Gallaudet school record in 1,000-yard freestyle
BALTIMORE – Senior Brian Bennett (Colorado Springs, Colo.) swam in two exhibition events Wednesday evening at the LeClerc Pool on the campus of Notre Dame of Maryland University as the Gallaudet University women’s swimming team participated in a dual meet with the host Gators, who won 68-53.
Bennett swam in two exhibition events to try and improve his times to help his chances of swimming beyond the conference championships. The senior leader of the Gallaudet men’s swimming team broke his own school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle as he finished in 10 minutes, 14.97 seconds which was nearly four seconds faster then his time he set back on Feb. 14, 2010.
The second event Bennett swam in was the 200 butterfly. He didn’t break the school record but his time of 2:12.32 was a personal best.
