Faafiti earns WBCA All-America Honorable Mention honor

ATLANTA – The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced the 2010 NCAA Division III State Farm Coaches' All-America team on Thursday night and Gallaudet University junior center Easter Faafiti (Pittsburg, Calif.) earned honorable mention honors.

The WBCA 10-member All-America team was selected by a vote of the selection committee. The committee is comprised of one representative from each of the eight geographical regions and a chairperson. Faafiti earned all-region honors for Region 3 last week and was one of 40 finalists eligible to be named to the 10-member All-America team.

The WBCA 10-member All-America team includes Randolph-Macon senior center Molly Ariail, Kean senior guard Melissa Beyruti, Brandeis senior guard Jessica Chapin, University of Wisconsin-Stout senior forward Julia Hirssig, SUNY Cortland senior forward Jessica Laing, Elmhurst senior forward Lyndsie Long, Gettysburg junior forward Caitlin Moser, Christopher Newport junior guard Chelsie Schweers, Hope junior center Carrie Snikkers and Amherst sophomore guard Caroline Stedman. The 30 other finalists were named honorable mention. Snikkers took home Division III Player of the Year honors.

Faafiti, a junior-college transfer from Pasadena City College, led the CAC in scoring (19.1 points per game), rebounding (11.1 per game), field goal percentage (.597), offensive rebounds (5.1 per game) and was second in steals (3.3 per game) and fourth in defensive rebounds (6.0). Nationally, Faafiti was ranked in several categories among all NCAA Division III women's basketball programs including; field goal percentage (10th overall), scoring (27th), rebounding (30th) and steals (38th).
