Bison faithful come out to wish Gallaudet's women's basketball team luck as they depart for NCAA tournament
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Gallaudet University women's basketball team departed campus on Thursday afternoon headed for the 2011 NCAA Division III tournament first round at Juniata College but not before a nice send off celebration from many GU faculty, staff, alumni and students. The Bison received encouraging remarks from Gallaudet President Alan Hurwitz, Athletic Director Michael Weinstock and Student Government President Colin Whited. Additionally, former Bison and Gallaudet Hall of Fame member Touria Ouahid Boren shared her experience when she helped the Bison to the 1999 NCAA tournament. That year Gallaudet won its first two games and advanced to the "Sweet 16." Coach Kevin Cook stood up and thanked the Bison Nation for coming out to support the team this season and the team had a chance to introduce themselves to the crowd.
