Bison score a season best eight goals in win over Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Gallaudet University women's soccer team picked up a much needed North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win on the road Wednesday as the Bison beat Wilson College 8-1. The eight goals scored is a season high for the Buff and Blue as Gallaudet doubled its previous high this year. The win snaps a three-game winless streak for the Bison (4-7, 2-4 NEAC).

A trio of Bison scored two goals apiece in the win including senior Virginia Keeler (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and sophomores Johanna Arrigo (Ewing, N.J.) and Tiffany Narciso (North Wildwood, N.J.).  Keeler added two assists in the win. Narciso assisted Arrigo on the game's first goal before the midfielder scored twice to give GU a 3-0 lead 36 minutes into the game.  Gallaudet led 4-0 at halftime.

In the second half, the Bison had four different goal scorers in Arrigo, Keeler and freshmen Lauren Hostovsky (Medfield, Mass.) and Monique Balcarcel (Lansing, Mich.). Hostovsky added one assist as the Bison recorded a season-high 20 points in the game.

After today's game the quartet of Arrigo, Hostovsky, Keeler and Narciso are tied for the team lead in goals with five each.

Wilson (1-9, 1-5 NEAC) got on the board in the final minutes when Courtney Bernecker scored an unassisted goal with three minutes left.

Sophomore goalie Kara Gulvas (Crown Point, Ind.) finished the game with seven saves. The Bison outshot the Phoenix 23-12.

GU remains on the road this weekend when the Bison travel to the College of St. Elizabeth on Sunday, October 10, for a 12 p.m. conference game.
