Kang places third in the javelin at Liberty Twilight Qualifier
LYNCHBURG, Va. – Gallaudet University freshman Leslye Kang (Wayne, N.J.) finished third in the javelin Thursday evening at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier. Kang’s top throw out of six tries was 34.08 meters (111 feet, 10 inches) as she placed third behind two Lynchburg College throwers.
Kang set the program record in the javelin last week with a toss of 37.81 meters (124 feet) at the Mason-Dixon Conference outdoor championships at Christopher Newport University.
Lynchburg’s Krystle Landes won the event with a throw of 37.82 meters (124 feet, one inch) followed by teammate Leah Heal (37.71 meters).
Kang will next compete in the 2011 ECAC Division III championships that will be hosted by Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa., on May 19-20.
