Gallaudet Volleyball Loses Close Game to First Place St. Mary's
The Gallaudet Volleyball team faced St. Mary's College tonight and gave them all they could handle before losing in four sets, 25-8, 31-33, 25-20, 25-21. Gallaudet never gave up despite a tough first set, and battled back to win a see-saw second set with 33 points. Gallaudet stayed close the final two sets.
Justine Jeter and Amanda Krieger led Gallaudet with 10 kills apiece, while Paige Johnson added 30 assists and 14 digs and Briitany Ellenbecker had 12 digs.
Head Coach Lynn Ray Boren was pleased with the teams' effort after not playing well in the first game but found plenty for the team to work on. "We need to focus on passing if we want to be a top team. Other areas of our game have improved including serving, positioning, and blocking, but our passing has been a struggle for us since the beginning of the season."
Gallaudet goes to 8-13 on the season. They next play October 7 at 7 pm at Hood College.
