Frowick, Tubert named 2011 ECAC Division III Upstate/Metro Volleyball Second Team All-Stars

CENTREVILLE, Mass. – There were only two freshmen to be named to the 2011 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Upstate/Metro volleyball all-star teams and they both hail from Gallaudet University. Kali Frowick (Norfolk, Neb.) and Sarah Tubert (Burbank, Calif.) were selected to the second team after leading the Bison to the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship and a berth into the NCAA tournament. Gallaudet had the most ECAC All-Star selections as SUNYIT senior Juleah Vedder joined the Gallaudet pair on the Upstate/Metro second team.

Frowick became the first-ever NEAC Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Year this past season and was an all-conference first team honoree. Frowick was selected as NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week once this season (September 5) and received two all-tournament honors. The outside hitter ranks fifth in the conference in hitting percentage (.269) and kills (386), 3.09 per set in 36 matches played. Frowick recorded double digit kills in 23 matches this season with her season-high coming against St. Mary's (Md.) College on October 4, where she had 20 kills in a 3-2 victory. She posted her season-high hitting percentage on September 29, at McDaniel with a .733 mark and had a percentage over .500 in six other matches. Frowick is second on the team in digs (325) and third in blocks (46) and fifth in service aces (48).

Tubert joined Frowick on the all-conference first team this past season. Tubert had an outstanding season at setter for the Bison as she led the conference in assists with 1,166 and a 9.33 average per set. Tubert helped the Bison reach a national ranking of 19th in aces per set with 0.54 per set average which placed her fifth on the NEAC conference leaderboard. She leads the Bison with 67 service aces in 36 matches played. Tubert had a season-high of 53 assists against Penn St.-Berks in the NEAC championship. She posted her season-high of eight service aces on October 15, when the Bison defeated Cazenovia 3-0. She also tallied 118 kills and 185 digs this season.
